BRAMS is looking for a full-time Child Health Nurse based in Broome, WA. Reporting to the Community Health Manager, this role will provide comprehensive, culturally safe and family-centred care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children aged 0 to 5 and their families.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Delivering developmental assessments, immunisations, health checks and parenting support
- Conducting home visits, outreach clinics, and community-based consultations
- Identifying early childhood concerns and providing early intervention or referrals
- Providing education on nutrition, sleep, feeding, behaviour and parenting skills
- Managing AIR claims and child health recalls, including RHD
- Participating in health promotion and group sessions
- Liaising with GPs, AHPs, Allied Health and SEWB teams for integrated care
- Supporting Aboriginal Health Workers in early childhood care skills
- Contributing to audits, documentation, and the Quality Care Framework
- Maintaining compliance with child safety, cold chain, and reporting protocols

What You Bring - Skills That Make a Difference
To qualify, you will need current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse and a postgraduate qualification in Child and Family Health. You will also bring demonstrated experience delivering child and family health services, ideally within a community, primary healthcare, Aboriginal health, or remote health setting.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Experience conducting developmental assessments, growth monitoring, and childhood immunisations
- Experience working within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) or with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Familiarity with MMEx or similar electronic health record systems
- Experience facilitating health promotion, parenting, or early childhood education programs
- Sound understanding of child protection legislation and mandatory reporting requirements
